The Liebster Award

I’m super excited to announce that I was nominated for a Liebster Award by the awesome Lowanda of the blog Sunshine and Elephants!!! I feel very honored that Lowanda thought I was worthy of a nomination, and that she included me in a list of other blogs like CHCC and Living My Sunday (fun fact: the creator of the second blog is named Dara as well.) Thank you, Lowanda!

Getting nominated for a Liebster is pretty awesome! It makes you feel like someone is listening and like you are included in the blogging community.

The Liebster Award is all about bringing new and smaller sites into the blog-o-sphere by promoting blogs with less than 3000 followers (way way way less in my case). The word liebster means dearest or favorite in German, and the award is a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers and promote inclusiveness 🙂 Yay for inclusiveness!

In order to accept my nomination, I have to write a post answering the questions put forth by my nominator and in turn, nominate a few of my own favorite bloggers. So before I do the nominating bit, I will answer the questions that Lowanda has given me:

How long have you been blogging?

Well, apparently, I have been blogging for 2 years because my hosting is up for renewal this month. I can’t say that I have been consistently blogging for two years though because I know that I had a few little breaks (the most recent one this Spring). However, I started anew this month, and I am ready to get back down to business.

What is your blog about?

I consider my blog to be a Charlotte Family-Lifestyle Blog. I cover things to do in the Queen City like the best places to hike, cool date night activities, and fun places to take the kids. In the family tab is where I toss all of my “mommy blogger” stuff like recipes, crafts, and money saving tips. I can’t leave out blogging stuff though, right? I try to post helpful things for new and aspiring bloggers like my interview series or lists of helpful blogging tools.

Where does your inspiration come from?

I guess life is my biggest source of inspiration. I keep a little list on my phone to jot down future post topics when I think of them (usually when I am driving for some reason). Sometimes inspiration comes from things that I want to know for myself and then I just share the research that I did on the topic, like my post for planning an NYC trip.

What is your favorite memory associated with blogging?

I’m not sure if this is my favorite memory, but it is a silly one…before I started blogging, I sort of though other bloggers must be experts or celebrities or really important writers (not saying we aren’t important writers), but I just didn’t know that it was a make your own kind of thing. I guess I thought people were chosen to be bloggers, like um, Jedi or something. So, when I first started blogging, one of those “expert” bloggers commented on one my post, and I got all fangirl because she was like a celebrity to me. 😀

What is the best social media outlet for your blog?

Well, the best is relative I think. It depends on what I want to accomplish. I like Instagram the most because it is fun and pretty, and I get a lot of engagement there but that engagement doesn’t carry over into blog traffic. Twitter is a great tool for connecting with other bloggers and joining informative chats, but again, it doesn’t bring much traffic to my site. The best for getting people over here to read my stuff has to be Pinterest. It is definitely the number one referrer to my blog. Especially since I started using Tailwind for scheduling.

What is one thing you want your readers to know about you?

I am joking or being sarcastic about 75% of the time. Plus, I am a major weirdo with a very silly sense of humor. Actually, my husband tells me on a regular basis that I am the weirdest person he has ever met. Especially when I am laughing uncontrollably at this comic and it happens EVERY TIME I LOOK AT IT!

Alright! Now it is my turn to nominate!  I read all of these ladies blogs on a regular basis, and they all put out really great content.

  1. I will start with Grady from Gradybird Blog. Grady is a super sweet person, and her posts are always uplifting, even if they do make me cry on occasion.
  2. Next is Bekah from The OMG Spot. Bekah is HILARIOUS! She will have you laughing like a fool all by yourself sitting at your computer.
  3. I would also like to nominate Tia from Just Her Carryon. Tia is a fellow Queen City blogger! She has a great travel blog with a beautiful Instagram.
  4. Last but not least is Rosie from Everything’s Coming Up Rosie. Rosie always posts such great blogging content, and I consider her to be a valuable resource for my blogging journey.

Yay! I hope your next favorite blog in my list of nominees! Now to figure out what questions to send them…anyone have any ideas?

  1. I just came here to say I love you and I also love Bekah. I get a lot of tips for you (I still want that cooking date, dagnabbit!) and Bekah is just a pro.

    1. I love you too lady! I miss your wit and humor. You should write for Anne Marie’s new site the Sharing Spot, you could do it under a pen name to keep clear of the new workplace 😉

  2. Okay, you and I both felt the same way about bloggers and we both had the same reaction from a “famous” blogger commenting on our blog! I can’t believe how naive I was. I am no where near “star” status, but truly like the friendships I have established along the way. I love how you classify your blog. I have never had a true focus and I’m okay with that.

    1. Blogging is such an awesome community, and I have yet to feel anything but welcome. Everyone is always so ready to help with advice and tricks! Thanks again for the nomination 🙂
