Super G Mart on E Independence claims to have the largest selection of international food in North Carolina, and if you’ve ever visited this behemoth of a grocery store you will certainly be inclined to agree. They have aisles and aisles of food, many of which are dedicated to a certain country or region, that you won’t find in your typical neighborhood grocery store. However, the G Mart has a lot more to offer than just a world tour of snack foods, here are five reasons why you should shop at the Super G Mart:
I found that the prices of items were pretty good in general, but certain items like meats and nuts were super cheap. They had giant bags of almonds for around $6, and the boneless chicken breasts were just $1.99 per pound. Not to mention all the international items that can be expensive in your neighborhood store, but are much more reasonably priced at the G Mart.
The Fresh Meat and Seafood
Let’s talk about the meat department for a minute because it is huge. I think I counted five people behind the counter slicing meat and bagging seafood for people. Oh, and a lot of that seafood is so fresh, it is still alive. There was a ton of mussels and clams, and even one or two items that I didn’t recognize.
The Produce Section
So, the produce section is just as big, if not bigger, than the meat department, and it is stacked. There was so. much. produce. Whatever you have on your shopping list, I guarantee they are stocking it at the G Mart.
The Interesting International Items
Any of the more difficult items to find on your shopping list, like the ingredients for that new ethnic food recipe you found on Pinterest, will be much easier to find on these shelves. I also like to find cool new drinks and snack foods to try.
The Food Court and Bakery
Shopping can be hungry work, but luckily there is a small food court right inside this grocery store. You can grab a banh mi sandwich, a plate of fried rice, or even a dozen cookies and enjoy your snack at one of the tables before heading to the registers to check out.
There you have it, five outstanding reasons to give the Super G Mart on Independence a try! It is the biggest international grocery store in the Charlotte metro area, and it may just become your favorite place to shop.
