About four months ago, I did a post about making goals, and I made this list of things I wanted to do with my life. I thought I would take the time to do a little update on where I stand with each of those items. We will call it my attempt to both inspire you to keep working on your own dreams and to also hold me accountable on mine 🙂
Post Content
Travel
My husband and I try to do one big family trip a year, this year was NYC. We also attempt to work in a few weekend getaways with at least one being sans kiddos. This year we attended a friend’s wedding near Nashville, so we used that as an excuse to explore the city a bit, and we also spent our anniversary in Savannah. We are looking into getting a credit card with sky miles to increase our travel potential, and we have made a conscious effort to explore the city we live in. There is so much cool stuff in Charlotte, and we have barely seen the tip of the iceberg!
List Making
Making lists is a big thing for me as my husband and children will attest to, they often get nervous when I whip out my pen and notepad, wondering what is in store (chores? oh no!). BUT. I have been putting this quirk of mine to good use! I created a Charlotte Events page for local activities, and I am most of the way finished with an e-guide about date night ideas in Charlotte that I plan to market and sell on Amazon for Kindle! Both of these lists were just sitting on my computer already! I just added to and expanded them a bit.
Acting/Filmmaking
I auditioned for and won a role in the Dinner Detectives show here in Charlotte. I already did my first show with the group! It is a paid gig with awesome people and the time commitment is fairly small. I am loving it!
I also wrote the first draft of a script to a psychological thriller that I may turn into a short story or try to film low-budget guerrilla style. I really like it, and I think it is a marketable story. It just needs to be polished up a bit first. (Hey, if anyone is interested in reading and giving feedback, please let me know)
Photography
Although I am still mostly in auto mode on my camera still, my husband bought me a light box and new photography book for my birthday. I have also recently met a photographer friend, and she offered to take me on a little picture taking lesson around town. I am crazy excited because her stuff is fantastic!
Home Improvement
Weeeeell…here is the slack spot. I haven’t really done much in this area 🙁 Honestly, the closet door that I mentioned in the first post is still sitting in the garage half finished. Eeeek! My poor daughter has had no closet door FOR FOUR MONTHS! Looks like I could spend a bit of energy and focus on this area, mmhmm.
Blogging
I have been working hard on my blog, folks! I mean really putting in an effort on all fronts, and I am seeing progress at a slow and steady pace: increased page views, followers on social media, consistency in posting, and just this week I started automating some of my social shares with Tailwind and Coscheduler. It is quite the process, but I am still enjoying myself and learning tons.
It feels good to look back and see what I have accomplished in four months seems like more when I spell it all out like that 🙂 Plus, I have found a spot that needs a little more focus. I am still not anywhere near quitting my day job *chortle, chortle*, but I hope in four more months to have made even more progress.
What goals are you working toward? Any big wins lately?

OMG! Look how accomplishy you are. I would so buy that guide if someone made one for Greenville. So funny about the list thing just sitting on your computer. Someone told me to submit a “list” post to Stumbleupon. I had already creaated the “100 Questions to Ask Each Other” for our cabin and simply turned it into a blog post. That post got thousands of views and continues to this day to create traffic. SOMETHING I ALREADY HAD!! Funny how that works 🙂
Can I have a link to that post? I noticed that my recent post that was in list form did well recently, although not thousands of views well 🙂 I need inspiration!

I’m getting in on this one too 🙂
I am going to check out your 100 questions! And maybe once I finish my Charlotte one, you and I can collaborate on a Greenville one! Then I will have to make trips down there to take pictures and eat at all the places and stuff 🙂
Get yo ass down here. I will treat you right 🙂
Okay. I will start researching Greenville spots. Obviously, the mouse hunt has to be in there, those things are just too cute.
Know it well!
Wow, getting to do something artistic that is actually a paid gig! So many people covet that opportunity, no matter what it pays!
Most of my goals are related to my blog, that I have only recently got more serious about promoting. Daily page views are slowly creeping up :), I’m also trying to keep up some fitness goals, I go for a half-arsed run every few days but I need to do a bit of toning as well, and just generally try to eat less icecream.
Ugh! I need to set some fitness goals…my pounds are slowly creeping up. I forget to do the running and toning, but I never forget the ice-cream. I need someone to yell at me to get me to the gym (the one that I pay for each month but never enter).
Um, I will read the hell out of anything you write. I will give you feedback like woah, sugar.
So it is in a sort of script-like form, very rough, but I will send it to you if you want to take a gander for realsies
Inspirational! I have all kinds of plans in my head and it’s better when I take the time to write them down.
It also helps you hold yourself accountable, right?
I love how honest you are with your goals. So refreshing! Very inspirational. Thanks for sharing your progress on SITS Sat. Sharefest.
Getting them all accomplished is another story! There never seems to be enough time, right?
